Resources have been created to focus specifically on the unique security issues of churches because church leaders of every size, denomination and locale are facing real security threats to their congregations, organizations. Industries have responded to the clear need to support and serve the local church with services ranging from church management & security software, background check firms that go beyond the basic requirements, to law firms that represent churches and victims of abuse. These resources are available because the problem of church security is so widespread..
We interviewed a variety of experts on church security in order to better equip church leaders with the information, statistics and action plans necessary to protect their congregants. As a result, we have identified seven critical tips for security in today's churches:
1. Background Checks - complete background checks through experienced firms
2. Check-in System - a secure check in system for children and events
3. Aggressive Friendliness - training to intervene with difficult people politely
4. Emergency Action Plan - steps to identify, evaluate and respond to an emergency
5. Triage Teams - recruit paramedics, doctors and nurses for medical situations
6. ERT kits - Emergency Response Team kits to be used in case of emergency
7. Communications – command and control for instant communications and coordination
In this section, we are working with the Check-in System.
